Did Someone Say LA?

In March I took my first trip to Los Angeles for an acting job and it was amazing! It was a whirlwind of a weekend with lots of sightseeing and a full day on set before we had to go back home.

The First 5 Places We Visited In LA After We Landed

Santa Monica Pier

With only a day and a half to explore LA we hit the ground running. Straight from the airport we headed to Santa Monica Pier and the Pacific Park. It was cold and overcast but that didn't stop us from riding the Farris wheel, playing carnival games and eating cotton candy.

American Girl Doll Store/ Farmer's Market

Anytime I visit a city with an AG store we have to visit it! The LA store at the Grove was pretty good. A nice salon and a good variety of displays. It was not as cool as New York, but better than Orlando and Chicago. The best part was really the Farmer's Market. I absolutely love farmer's markets and the one next to the Grove is LA's original market started in 1934. It was full of so many cool stalls, restaurants, and food!!

The Funko Store

My dad is obsessed with Funko Pops, so a visit to the Funko Store on Hollywood was a must. The store was pretty awesome with lots of life sized Pops from different genres. There were also some exclusives to the store and the piece de resistance; a kiosk where you can make your own Pop. We waited for three hours for the pleasure of making Pops that look like us. Not sure it was worth the wait, but dad was a happy camper.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame

We were able to hit several blocks of the Hollywood Walk of Fame while waiting for our turn at the Funko Store because the Walk of Fame was right outside the store's door. I got to learn about lots of famous actors and entertainers from the past and present. It was fun to talk about the movies and music they made and the impact the stars had on my mom and dad.

The Hollywood Sign

What would my first trip to LA and my fist LA based acting job be without a trip to see the Hollywood Sign? This is a huge tourist attraction and it can be difficult to get to, it's defiantly off the beaten path. We chose the Lake Hollywood Park view point due to time and generally not wanting to hike a bunch. I ended up with an ok picture of me with the sign that my mom took. I hope next we go we can get a little closer using the Griffith Observatory trails.

We covered all of these attractions in a day and a half. If you plan your route and time it right traffic isn't too bad and you get to see some really cool parts of the city. Until next time LA....
